TADCASTER Albion are without a win in three Northern Counties East League premier division games after an eventful 5-3 defeat at Basford United.
The Brewers trailed 4-0 at half-time and then had goalkeeper Leon Wrigglesworth sent off before mounting a late revival.
Second-placed Albion made the worst possible start as Matthew Sparks scored an own goal after only five minutes.
Fabian Smith made it 2-0 on 19 minutes, Tyeisse Nightingale got in on the act four minutes later and then Ryan Whitehurst added a fourth on 38 minutes.
Martin Holt’s own goal on 68 minutes gave Tadcaster a lifeline, but then Wrigglesworth and Basford’s Theo Smith were sent off following a mass brawl.
Mitch Hamilton made it 4-3 in the last minute but, as the visitors were pushing for an equaliser, Whitehurst claimed his second.
Hamilton scored again in injury time, but there was no way back for manager Paul Marshall’s men.
There was no game for Pickering Town, who remain sixth in the table as a raft of games were postponed.
Former Pickering and Tadcaster boss Jimmy Reid’s reign as Selby Town manager started with a 2-0 home defeat by Clipstone in division one.
Keiron Watson gave the visitors a 47th minute lead at Flaxley Road and Brandon Shaw wrapped up the points with a second three minutes later.
Knaresborough Town drew 2-2 at Shirebrook Town.
Harrogate Town were twice pegged back by Telford as they drew 2-2 at Wetherby Road in Conference North.
Former York City full-back Dave Merris put Town in front just before the break, but the visitors levelled with 15 minutes remaining through Mike Grogan.
Shane Killock struck a second for the hosts with ten minutes remaining, but the lead lasted only two minutes as Tony Gray earned Telford a point.
Harrogate Railway Athletic lost 2-1 at sixth-placed Lancaster City in Evo-Stik League division one north.
Tom Kilifin put the home side ahead on 40 minutes, but Nathan Cartman netted for Railway on the stroke of half-time. Jordan Connerton hit the winner in the 58th minute.
In division one south, Scarborough Athletic lost 3-1 at home to Romulus. Lee Smith and Craig Marshall scored in the first half for the visitors and, although Ryan Blott scored on 89 minutes for Scarborough, Daniel O’Callaghan made it 3-1 a minute later.
