FORMER Barnsley boss David Flitcroft is still looking for his first win as second-bottom Bury manager ahead of tomorrow’s home game with York City.

Flitcroft has drawn two and lost one of the three games he has overseen since replacing interim chief Ronnie Jepson at Gigg Lane following Kevin Blackwell’s dismissal in October.

Ex-Bootham Crescent chief Chris Brass, the man in charge when City were relegated to the Conference back in 2004, was also named as Flitcroft’s assistant last week, leaving the same position at Torquay under Alan Knill to be reunited with his former Shakers team-mate.

Bury are also still expected to be without captain Craig Jones (groin), on-loan Fleetwood full-back Shaun Beeley (hamstring) and experienced midfielder Tom Soares (hamstring) as Flitcroft aims to improve a record of just one win in ten matches.

That 1-0 victory over Hartlepool does, however, form part of a five-game unbeaten run for tomorrow’s hosts, alongside draws against Scunthorpe (2-2), Northampton (1-1), Wimbledon (1-1) and Cambridge (0-0).

Bury also showed spirit to come back from 2-0 down on Boxing Day to secure a point against ten-man Scunthorpe thanks to Daniel Nardiello’s last-minute equaliser.

Ex-Manchester United striker Nardiello, 31, has scored four times in his last five matches following a November loan move from Rotherham, where he also netted five goals in his first four matches of the season.

That tally places him one behind Bury’s leading marksman this season – on-loan Blackburn teenager Anton Forrester – who has not started a game since November 2 and has failed to net in his last nine outings.

Nardiello is expected to line up alongside Shaun Harrad, who has managed just two goals this term and has only ever scored four times in 47 appearances for the Shakers.

Bury: (probable) Jensen, Roberts, Hinds, Cameron, Howell, Sedgwick, Miller, Procter, Mayor, Nardiello, Harrad.
