KING William moved top of division one in the Ian’s Cars of Barlby York Sunday Morning Football League after winning 3-1 at previous leaders Wigginton Grasshoppers.

The home side had the better of the chances in a closely-fought first half but failed to convert, while King William striker Danny Gray struck the bar.

’Hoppers nosed in front after 56 minutes with a goal from Jamie Willstrop, but Josh Leeming nodded home from close range to level.

Wiggy lost ’keeper Michael Clancy to injury following the goal, but almost regained the lead when Tom Derbyshire’s shot struck the crossbar.

However, it was to be King William’s day and two goals in as many minutes from Kevin Butler and Gray sealed the points.

Station, with a first half strike from Steve Lyon, beat Dunnington 1-0.

They are two points behind the league leaders.

Severus gained their first points of the season with a convincing 4-0 win over visitors Enterprise.

Chris Ellerker put Severus 1-0 up with a sixth-minute tap in and two goals from Lee Powell made it 3-0 at the break.

The final goal of the game came from Lee Jacobs in the second half.

Leeman United increased their advantage at the top of division two with a 1-0 win over Albion Vaults.

The match-winning goal was netted by Liam Stilgoe in the fifth minute.

York Nomads went down 3-2 to visitors Hambleton.

Matthew Hattee and Kieran Flanagan were on target for the home side.

In division four, basement side York Phoenix finally put points on the board after a run of ten straight defeats.

They ended their losing sequence in style too with a 5-1 win over New Earswick.

A brace from Fabio Andrade and a Nicholas Horne strike put Phoenix 3-0 up at the break.

New Earswick pulled a goal back midway through the second period, but Phoenix made sure of their first points with a goal from Ben Low and a second strike by Horne.

NUR stay top of the table despite losing 5-3 at home to Selby Olympia.

The pace-setters were rocked when Olympia raced into a 3-0 lead but hit back with goals from the Burnett brothers, Jordan and Matthew, to reduce the deficit.

However, a fourth goal from Olympia and a penalty killed hopes of an NUR win.

Olympia’s Thomas Butterfield bagged a hat-trick and Danny May added a brace of goals.

Eggborough Rangers’ five-game winning run came to an end when they were thumped 8-0 at home by Marcia Bishopthorpe.

Hemingbrough United are through to the semi-finals of the East Riding County FA Vice-president’s Cup after beating Hull-based Avenues 13-6.

United sped into a 5-1 lead but Avenues hit back to level the scores just before the break.

Hemingbrough cut loose in the second period and totally dominated to run out 13-6 winners.

Luke Zacharenko led the way for Hemingbrough with a hat-trick.
