Ten Thirsk and Sowerby Harriers runners were among the near-500 finishers in the Loftus and Whitby Poultry Run. Runners were dressed in festive garb, with a brass band at the start adding to the atmosphere.

There was a steady climb for the first two thirds of the eight-mile race race, with a muddy off-road section over fields. There was also a head wind on the return.

Rob Lickley set the pace for the Harriers, finishing 111th in 58 minutes 15 seconds, while Pat Kirby was second in her age group and 230th overall in 65.12.
