Thirsk and Sowerby Harriers runners in Festive Poultry Run

Ten Thirsk and Sowerby Harriers runners were among the near-500 finishers in the Loftus and Whitby Poultry Run. Runners were dressed in festive garb, with a brass band at the start adding to the atmosphere.

There was a steady climb for the first two thirds of the eight-mile race race, with a muddy off-road section over fields. There was also a head wind on the return.

Rob Lickley set the pace for the Harriers, finishing 111th in 58 minutes 15 seconds, while Pat Kirby was second in her age group and 230th overall in 65.12.

Others: Richard Harry, 147th in 59.46, Paul Atkinson 155th in 60.30, Nicola Jenkins 212th in 64.22, Hilary Coventry 292nd in 68.10, Fran Jeffery 325th in 70.10, Rebecca Hartley 383rd in 75.23, Ian Codling 472nd in 89.11, Marian Codling 488th in 100.36.
