York Indoor Bowls Club’s Egham Trophy campaign came to an end when they lost 77-71 to Hartlepool.

With the away rinks finished, the home teams trailed by four shots on aggregate with one end to play.

During the last end, the team led by Dave Attwood laid five shots while Dave Stroughair’s were one down. Then, with his first wood, Attwood’s opposing skip killed the end.

Soon after, Stroughair unluckily missed trailing the jack to pick up a shot. Instead he fell three behind, meaning Attwood’s side needed to get seven shots to take the game into an extra end.

As it was, he only picked up a single and York were out.

The away rinks had done well, with Phil Emmerson’s only going down 20-17 and John Harris’ trailing 27-5 but importantly coming back at the end to make the final score 29-15.

At home, Stroughair’s team had the upperhand throughout their game and they won 24-16 while Attwood’s had a tough game but won 15-12.
