York Indoor Bowls Club ‘A’ followed up their success against North Cave White in the Yorkshire Over-55s League division one with another emphatic win – this time against previously unbeaten Redcar 107-56.

The away leg was played first and saw Graham Instone’s team leading from start to finish.

They scored a five on the sixth end to move the score on to 10-1 and they were not threatened thereafter, finishing up 20-13 winners.

Malcolm Thompson’s team did well in coming from 10-3 down to lead 16-15, but lost the last three ends and their game 20-16.

At home, the rink led by Graham Brooke continued from their excellent 41-3 victory the week before with another high scoring win.

They only lost five ends and sealed their domination with a seven on the 20th end to make the score 42-5 and they finished up 44-5 winners.

Geoff Walker’s team got off to a good start, leading 21-4 after only nine ends, before the visitors came back.

However, the damage had already been done and Walker’s men triumphed 27-18.

The victory earned York 16 points.

New Earswick were frustrated after putting up a good display against North Cave White as they came away pointless from an 86-72 defeat.

Away, Barry Johnson’s side drew level with a three to make the score 19-19 with five ends to play, but went into the last end 24-19 down before scoring a three to only go down by two shots.

Ralph Tiplady’s side were level at 15-15 after scoring a two then a three, but lost 19-17.

At home, Bob Edwards team looked to be on course for victory when they led 22-16 with three ends to play but lost 23-22.

Mick Head’s side were defeated 20-11.
