Selby Town travel to Hall Road Rangers tomorrow on the back of a momentous 3-1 victory over leaders Shaw Lane Aquaforce – but manager Ian Dring warned his players not to get carried away, writes Toby Latham.

The Robins rose to seventh in the Northern Counties East League first division on the back of that result, which came courtesy of a Louis Blackwell hat-trick, though they have since slipped to ninth after having three points deducted.

As reported by The Press, they were punished for fielding a suspended player in their 2-0 win at Bottesford in October.

Dring said of the Aquaforce game: “It was a great win.

“It said on their website that they were confident of rolling us over but we have a strong squad and we made them look silly. They are a team who are used to the opposition playing negatively but we took the game to them and they couldn’t handle the pressure.”

Hall Road were beaten 4-0 at Knaresborough Town last week but Dring advocated caution. He said: “As a team we take every game as it comes.

“Anybody can beat anybody in this league and every time we play, I cross my fingers and pray that we win.”

Knaresborough, who sit above Selby on goal-difference, face a high-flying Pontefract Colleries side who are comfortably in the play-off zone. Meanwhile, mid-table Harrogate Railway travel to leaders Warrington Town in Evo-Stik League division one north.

In division one south, Scarborough Athletic are eyeing up visitors Loughborough Dynamo as their next victims as they look to augment an eight-game winning streak.

They have just enjoyed their first midweek off following a gruelling run of fixtures.

Harrogate Town are on the road in Conference North as they travel to lowly Worcester City confident on keeping in touch with leaders Hednesford Town.
