YORK Acorn ARLC are one of 44 community clubs entered into the first round of rugby league’s 2014 Tetley’s Challenge Cup.

The Rugby Football League have boasted the famous old competition will next year comprise the largest geographical spread of teams from across Britain in its history, with Welsh and Scottish champions, Torfaen and Aberdeen, and Conference South winners Bristol in the hat.

Acorn are among 30 clubs from the National Conference League, though Heworth are not included.

Student powerhouses Leeds Met and Loughborough University, along with the three Armed Forces teams and GB Police are entered.

Rounds one and two take place on February 1 and 22. Champion-ships clubs, including York City Knights, enter in round three on March 15/16, and Super League clubs in round four on April 5/6.

The first round draw will be held next month.
