LEEDS United’s York-born defender Sam Byram is in fighting mood ahead of tomorrow’s Yorkshire derby duel at Doncaster.

The right-back said the defiant display against Watford when Leeds came back from 2-0 down to lead 3-2 before being pegged back by a late leveller, would be of benefit to the push to nab precious Championship away plunder.

Said Byram: “After those home performances we can start to figure out how to pick up points away. That is something that we are working on and I’m sure that we’ll do that.

“The lads are in good spirits and we will be going about it the right way.”

Even though Leeds prevailed over Rovers in the Capital Cup at the Keepmoat Stadium earlier in the season, there would be no complacency on United’s part, added the right-back.

“I’m sure that we will have different players on the pitch to the team that played there in the cup,” said Byram.

“So we will approach it as a fresh game and we’ll prepare for it right and I’m sure we’ll be going there to pick up the three points.

“It’s fairly local so all the players will be fired up.”

Leeds, meanwhile, have signed 18-year-old American winger Gboly Ariyibi until the end of the season after his release in the summer from Premier League Southampton.
