John Quinn, whose Cockney Sparrow ran a mighty race at Newcastle on Saturday to chase home the top-class My Tent Or Yours in the Grade 1 Fighting Fifth Hurdle, has good prospects of figuring on the scoresheet at Catterick this afternoon.

The Norton trainer saddles Forced Family Fun in the Bhest Racing To School Juvenile Hurdle in the hope that his new recruit can follow up his hurdling debut success at Hexham.

There was plenty to like about that performance from this ex-Michael Bell Flat horse, who was bought by Quinn for 30,000 guineas at Newmarket’s Horses-in-Training Sales in October.

Forced Family Fun has a 7lb penalty to carry today but the shrewd Quinn has handed the mount to his smart conditional jockey Dean Pratt, whose 7lb claim effectively erases the extra burden.

The main danger to Forced Family Fun is likely to come from Muhtaris, a former Godolphin horse, who won two of his four races on the Flat and who is now with John Ferguson. He could be smart at the jumping game.

Keith Reveley and his jockey son James look set for a good afternoon on a course where they annually do well with their jumpers.

Nap selection Sambelucky can get the Reveleys off to a good start in the catterickbridge.co.uk Handicap Chase.

The eight-year-old was a good second to Pistol Basc on his recent reappearance at Sedgefield. He should be all the better with that outing under his belt.

Categorical also comes here on the back of an encouraging effort; a close-up third at Aintree six weeks ago. He is marginally preferred in the Book Now For 28th December Handicap Chase to Tony McCoy’s mount O’Callaghan Strand, who has some fair form and who can be excused his latest unplaced effort at Wincanton where he was hampered.

Donna’s Pride can be a third winner for the Reveleys in the Go Racing At Wetherby This Saturday Intermediate Open National Hunt Flat Race.

The four-year-old could finish only third on her debut at Perth in the summer, but it is significant that she was sent off the 6-4 favourite on that occasion. She can do better.

Malcolm Jefferson has been biding his time before sending Hi George over fences, but this promising brother to smart stablemate Attaglance makes his debut over the major obstacles in the racinguk.com Beginners’ Chase.

Winner of one bumper and two hurdles, Hi George ticks all the right boxes as a horse with the potential to make the grade as a chaser.

At Kempton’s twilight Flat meeting, Mick Easterby’s Ivestar commands respect in the kempton.co.uk Handicap.

Graham Gibbons’ mount was narrowly beaten on his latest start at Wolverhampton which may have signalled a return to form.

Also worth watching are the Andrew Balding-trained pair, Shamassiba (4.20) and Omar Khayyam (6.20).
