YORK City Knights will hold their official season launch tomorrow still not knowing what they will have to play for come 2014.

The Kingstone Press Championship One fixture programme was released yesterday, with the Knights kicking off their campaign at home to expansion club Gloucestershire All Golds on Sunday, March 2, before heading to arch-rivals and title favourites Hunslet seven days later.

The 20-match regular league season ends on September 7 at home to London Skolars, but there is still no news on whether promotion will be available come that date by finishing top of the table or via ensuing play-offs.

This all still depends on the policy review which is restructuring domestic rugby league’s professional divisions for 2015 onwards – ousting the current licensing system in the top tier to bring back promotion and relegation – and which has been delayed by rebel Super League clubs.

A Rugby Football League spokesman said that while Super League members were due to meet to discuss a new title sponsor, there were no meetings yet planned for clubs to thrash out the restructuring.

The Knights’ launch takes place at Bar 13 at Huntington Stadium, starting at 3pm.

New merchandise, including 2014 replica home and away shirts, will be available – to include replica shirts for toddlers and babies for the first time.

Season tickets, membership of the re-launched club lottery, and raffle tickets for the Christmas prize draw, which is being held in conjunction with Barclays Bank to raise money for the Knights Foundation charity, will also be available.

The Knights’ 2014 squad will be in attendance after training from about 7.30pm and will be officially introduced to supporters by head coach Gary Thornton.

Admission is free.
