Innsbruck out to be a big hit on switch to hurdling
Innsbruck, a maiden winner on the Flat on his debut at Pontefract last month, has his attentions turned to jumping at Sedgefield this afternoon and is fancied to make an immediate impact as a hurdler.
Norton trainer John Quinn feels the three-year-old is a useful prospect and reports his schooling over hurdles at home has been more than satisfactory.
Dougie Costello teams up with Innsbruck in the Todds Hire Specialist Vehicle Juvenile Hurdle. A winning performance is on the cards for the nap selection.
Malcolm Jefferson, who is based across the road from Quinn, also has good prospects of figuring on the Sedgefield scoresheet.
He runs King Of The Wolds in the Spookie Brookie Nortonthorpe Novices’ Handicap Chase.
A winner over hurdles last season at Wetherby in January, King Of The Wolds looked a progressive individual over the smaller obstacles.
Fences will be perfect for him and he is expected to make further progress in the coming months.
In the Compare Bookmakers At bookmakers.co.uk Handicap Hurdle, Night In Milan has plenty going for him, provided he is fit enough for his first outing since the spring.
Keith Reveley’s seven-year-old, second at Aintree in May, is a talented horse on his day. The best time to catch him may be on his comeback outing.
Also worthy of attention are Uttoxeter winner Carlton Jack (3.00) and the promising Serenity Now (4.00), who represents Norton trainer Brian Ellison.
At Lingfield, Roger Varian, who won last Saturday’s Group 1 Racing Post Trophy with Kingston Hill, can land a double with Three Cliffs and Kafeel.
Three Cliffs, who runs in the first division of the 32Red On The App Store/Irish EBF Maiden Stakes, shaped with promise on his debut at Kempton three weeks ago. He looks the type to get his head in front before long.
Kafeel will have the services of Paul Hanagan in the second divison and is selected to fulfil the promise he showed when fourth at York on his debut earlier this month.
In the 32Red Fleur de Lys Fillies’ Stakes, Enrol is taken to clinch Listed-race honours in the hands of James Doyle.
The four-year-old has finished second and fifth in similar races on her last two starts.
Sir Michael Stoute’s filly has every chance of stepping up to the number one slot this time.
Also worthy of attention are the in-form Prospera (3.20) and Wordismybond (4.20), a consistent sprinter, who will have North Yorkshire apprentice Joey Haynes on board.
1.00 Innsbruck (NAP), 1.30 Iktiview, 2.00 Night In Milan, 2.30 King Of The Wolds, 3.00 Carlton Jack, 3.30 Sendiym, 4.00 Serenity Now.

Today’s other meetings: Kempton and Lingfield.
