IN-FORM Sandra Bruce, the reigning individual darts champion, was unable to prevent Magnet suffering an 8-3 defeat at home to Tramways in division one of the York John Smith’s Ladies Darts League.

Bruce gamed in 21 darts, including two ton scores and an 80 closure, but Tramways triumphed thanks to two tons by Sue Lowery and a 125 from Ruth Norman.

Denise Fowler hit a 140 for Magnet, a feat also matched by Bruce.

Marcia ‘B’ captain Faye Hawksby gamed in 23 darts, including a 140 and a 100, against Five Lions but the Bishopthorpe side’s only other point came via landlady Linda Welch.

Top scoring and good finishing from Michelle Britton and Muriel Britton led Lions to a 9-2 scoreline.

City Supporters Club captain Tracey Farmeary hit a maximum, a 140 and a 100, but they were denied a full house by Burnholme’s Caroline Whittaker.

Anthea Jamieson, Emma Frankland and Juile Stables gave Edinburgh a 3-1 advantage over visitors Acomb.

Sarah Rankeillor, Laura Gatenby and Sammy Endersby levelled, before Gatenby and Rose Gray edged the visitors in front.

However, Claire and Anthea Jamieson set up the decider, which saw Stables join forces with Amanda Bevan to snatch match points for Edinburgh.

Bootham Cons Club also left it late as final pairing Jackie Calpin and Jane Barnes secured victory against Slipper, who had battled back from a 4-2 deficit.

Marcia ‘A’s Sophie Simpson made a flying start with a 24-dart opening leg and Di Moreland, Clair Cooper added points.

However, Jackie Simpson, Sue Richardson and Carol Robson replied for Severus ‘A’, who came good in the pairs with a clean slate for a fine 6-3 victory.

In division two, a bull finish from Michelle Kelly and wins from Wendy Storr, Linda Goldsmith and Ann Meek saw Severus ‘B’ take a 4-2 advantage into the pairs.

Vickie Capea and Laura Heward narrowed the gap for Jubilee, but it was too late as Meek and Jeanette Stewart sealed victory, before Kelly and Storr added to the Severus tally.

Nella Majstrek, Alison Walker, with a 27-dart leg, and Abbey Scott gave Ox a 3-1 lead before visitors Green Tree hit back.

Janine Cartwright and Jackie Young levelled the tie, then a clean sweep in the pairs saw Tree take home an 8-3 win.

Leeman’s Debbie and Charlotte Witts secured victory against Marcia Grey, whose captain Maggie Bedingham and Tracey Scurr starred.

Sun’s Danielle Ford led the way as they left Woolpack reeling with the season’s first 11-0 win.

Sharon Mountain hit the big scores for Shoulder as they took a 4-2 lead into the pairs against Turpin. Captain Jodie Dowson and Vicky Sellers sealed victory before Turpin got on the board to make it 7-4.
