York City asked to consider Bristol Rovers FA Cup date switch
YORK CITY have been asked by Bristol Rovers to consider rearranging their FA Cup first round clash at the Memorial Ground.
The club have contacted the Minstermen as their neighbours Bristol City have also been drawn at home on Saturday, November 9, against Dagenham.
York have requested the game "remains as scheduled" but have advised supporters not to make any arrangements until the situation is cleared up. That is expected to be later today.
Sophie Hicks, York City's communications and community director, said: "The Club have been contacted by Bristol Rovers this morning regarding the possible rearrangement of our forthcoming FA Cup First Round game scheduled to be played at Bristol Rovers on Saturday, November 9.
"The possible rearrangement of the fixture is due to the fact that both Bristol Rovers and Bristol City have been drawn at home that day and there may be some policing issues.
"Due to our lengthy journey to Bristol, we have requested the game remains as scheduled on Saturday, November 9.
"However, we cannot guarantee this, and we therefore advise supporters not to make any travel arrangements until the situation has been confirmed later today."
