Darts: Tramways win 10-1 against Severus

TRAMWAYS were denied a full house against division one visitors Severus ‘A’ in the opening round of the York John Smith’s Ladies Darts League.
Sev’s final pairing of Carol Robson and Sheila Elliott stopped the rot as Tramways won 10-1.
Jo Hodges hit a 180 for the victors, Carole Layne chipped in with two ton-plus scores and Ruth Norman fired a 140.
Lions, last season’s runners-up, were 3-0 down to Magnets after wins for Maggie Tottie, Trace Watkinson and Sandra Bruce.
However, Lions captain Michelle Britton led the fightback with a maximum before Dan Exton and Anne Bass levelled the tie.
In the pairs, Lions ran away with the game to win 8-3.
Slipper were 9-2 winners over Edinburgh Arms. Vicky Middleton and Elaine Metcalfe put Slipper 2-0 up and, despite Claire Jamieson and Jan Netherwood levelling, they ran out easy winners.
Reigning champions Cueball are now playing under the City Supporters mantle and they opened with a 7-4 defeat by Marcia ‘A’.
Tracey Farmeary and daughter Natalie were City’s only singles winners as Marcia entered the pairs with a 4-2 lead thanks to successes for Carol Perrett, Di Moreland, Clair Cooper and Sophie Simpson.
Tracey Farmeary and Lynne Clapham narrowed the gap with a 23-dart pairs leg and Natalie Farmeary teamed up with Gina Whittaker to set up a decider.
Moreland and Babs Harrison clinched the win for Marcia ‘A’.
Marcia ‘B’ were also 7-4 winners against Bootham Cons Club.
Last pair Joan Hunter and Linda Welch secured victory.
Acomb’s Kate Rankeillor gamed in 25 darts at home to Burnholme, but the visitors won 7-4 with a deciding leg win for Sharon Neads and Lynne Willstrop.
In division two, a four-strong Dick Turpin team battled to a 7-4 defeat at home to Marcia Grey.
Jo MacPherson, Pam Bielby and Becky Marmion enabled Turpin to enter the pairs all square.
Catherine Johns and Anne Allinson edged Marcia in front, but MacPherson and Sue Atkin levelled before Rosie Hattee and Tracey Scurr sealed the win.
Michelle Kelly, Wendy Storr, Ann Meek and Dot Sellars were Severus ‘B’s successes in the singles against Shoulder, whose winners were Hannah Smith and Jodie Dowson.
Natalie Whitehead and Paula Allen narrowed the gap before Storr and Jeanette Stewart clinched a 7-4 win for Sev.
Jubilee’s Angela Lancaster and Tracey Yeomans secured match points in a 7-4 victory against Castle Howard Ox.
Captain Alison Buckley, Jackie Young and Janine Cartwright edged Green Tree in front against Woolpack, who fought back through Sharon Lyons and Julia McKie.
Sonja Love ushered Tree 4-2 in front going into the pairs, but Sharon Nelson and McKie then Kath Powell and Lyons set up a decider, where Love combined with Sandra Flintoft to snatch victory.
Marianne Deamer and Dawn Barker joined forces to secure a 7-4 victory for Burton at Sun.
