Snooker: It’s Whinn win as Bootham pull further clear at top of pairs league
BOOTHAM have moved five points clear after only two matches in the York Conservative Clubs’ Slater Cup Snooker Pairs League.
They went 2-0 ahead after John McCready fouled on the final black and then made it 3-0 with another black ball result for Tony Cox and Bill Fluit.
Peter Jackson and Andrew Whinn continued the winning run, but the potential for a whitewash disappeared as Heworth took the last two frames, both on the black ball.
Bootham easily gained the aggregate point to seal their 5-2 success.
Fulford were again only able to field half a side, but they won two of the three games played against Acomb.
Acomb added three walkovers and the aggregate point to their single win to run out 5-2 victors.
Acomb and Heworth are joint second, five points adrift of leaders Bootham.
