Scheme to help support parents and parents-to-be in York launched
8:45am Thursday 26th September 2013 in Sport
A NEW scheme to help support parents and parents-to-be in York has been launched in the city.
The Parenting Track scheme launched yesterday with an aim to support children’s development from before birth until the age of three.
Parents can attend station stops at one of the city’s nine children’s centres, which relate to key markers in the development of children, from antenatal, to three-to-six weeks, to three years old.
The scheme was launched by Coun Janet Looker, the council’s cabinet member for education, children and young people, at West Offices.
Coun Looker said: “Parenting can be a tough job, and I hope that the Parent Track will encourage all parents in York to make the most of the support and advice available to them at their local children’s centre.”
