Snooker: Jim Rollinson does the business for Fulford to stay in top
9:58am Wednesday 18th September 2013 in Sport
FULFORD ‘B’ held on to their leadership of the York Conservative Clubs’ Carlsberg UK Snooker League after a 4-3 defeat of Acomb ‘A’.
They went 2-0 up through Bob Smith and Andy Hurley only for Acomb to level with a win by Trevor Ventress and a walk-over by Keith Thornhill as a result of an ineligible player being fielded by Fulford.
Arthur Pegden restored the lead but Tim Lister levelled again then Jim Rollinson decided the match for Fulford.
Fulford ‘A’ kept up the pressure with a 4-3 result against Acomb ‘B’. Jamie Husband (32bk) gave them a start but Chris Nicholson held off Andy Marshall (21bk) to level.
James Lee (21bk), Alan Reed and Simon England (24bk) secured the win before Andy Stone, who defeated Glen Mountain, and Steve Rodgers reduced the arrears.
Bootham ‘A’ opened their account, also with a last frame victory, after Stuart Martel, Colin Robinson and Chris Dower moved them ahead after Andy Ireland and Wayne Pullan had given Heworth ‘B’ a 2-0 lead. Ian Strickland levelled but Tim Fillingham won the match for Bootham.
The Bootham ‘B’ and Heworth ‘A’ match was postponed as Heworth could not raise a team.
