THE York City Knights Foundation have received a major boost after Barclays’ Parliament Street branch chose it as their charity partner this year.
Staff at the branch in York city centre are to launch the partnership by holding a raffle, with prizes donated by local businesses, and they will also organise a series of fundraising events to support the work the foundation does in the community.
Through the Barclays Community Investment programme, the money raised will be matched pound for pound, up to £750.
Paul Molloy, Barclays branch manager, said: “We are excited about the partnership.”
Barclays employees are also planning to deliver financial, enterprise and life skills workshops for young people as part of this partnership.
Jack Stearman, community development manager for the Foundation, said: “It is fantastic to be able to receive support from such a huge company and for them to recognise the importance of the work we do on improving the local community.”
As a local charity, the Knights Foundation relies heavily on donations.
