Tom O’Ryan’s back...for Press Raceday
11:33am Friday 6th September 2013 in Sport
THE news that North Yorkshire’s racing world has long been awaiting has been finally confirmed – and just in time for The Press Family Raceday on Sunday.
Award-winning tipster Tom O’Ryan will be back in the saddle after his horrific injury of just over three months ago.
The 58-year-old was almost killed when he was hit in the back by a flying fence post while cutting the grass at his Brawby home. He had to be airlifted to hospital and had two major operations on a severely fractured pelvis and crushed spine.
But the former jockey and star tipster will resume his column for The Press starting with all the lowdown on the runners and riders for The Press Raceday on Sunday, one of the most popular meetings on Knavesmire.
Said O’Ryan: “Things are progressing well and, although I’m on crutches, I am getting around okay.
“I hope I can land running and tip a few winners.”
