Tadcaster Magnets provided the shock result of the first round of the York Minster Engineering Football League Senior Cup, inflicting a 3-2 defeat on last year’s premier division runners-up Copmanthorpe.
John Crowley, Sam Harrison and Andrew Kitchen put Magnets in control before a Danny Leach brace restored some Cop pride.
The visitors began to dominate in the second half and struck further goals from Littlewood, Will Ramsay and Ryan Whitlam for a 4-2 win.
The top-flight’s leading scorer of 2012/13 has continued where he left off at.
Lee Powell hit a hat-trick in York Railway Institute’s 5-0 demolition of Pocklington Town. Danny Cates and Sean Stockdale completed the RI haul.
Champions Dunnington registered a 4-1 victory at Terrington Glory.
Stuart Lee put Dunnington into the lead before Chris Leedham equalised. But goals from Jimmy Willmoth, Olly Newby and Kieran O’Brien settled the tie.
The game between Brooklyn and Osbaldwick ended in deadlock at 2-2 before the hosts held their nerve to secure a 3-1 victory in the penalty shootout.
Osbaldwick led 1-0 at half-time before Johnny Dunning and Mikey Brown turned the tie on its head. The visitors equalised late on before being denied by Brooklyn ’keeper Andy Slaughter, who saved the first two spot-kicks.
Easingwold held Grasshoppers out until the 37th minute when Matthew Tiplady hit the opener. Josh Luckhurst then scored the pick of the Wiggy goals shortly after the restart before Jamie Willstrop unlocked the Town defence.
Further goals came from Scott Stewart, Jack Coates, Tiplady again, plus penalties from Tom Metcalfe and Josh Hutchinson.
St Clement’s posted a convincing 5-0 win over York St John University with Dan Hickey (2), Scott Nicholas, Bobby Clapham and Liam King on target.
