Leeds United striker looks to capitalise on positive start

POSITIVITY abounds at Leeds United where new striker Matt Smith is aiming to capitalise on the promising start to the campaign.
Victories over Brighton in the Sky Bet Championship and then in the Capital One Cup over visiting Chesterfield were followed by a valuable share of the points at Leicester City to give Brian McDermott’s men an unbeaten opening.
Tomorrow it’s the first Yorkshire derby of term when Sheffield Wednesday visit, kick-off 12.15pm, with Smith declaring: “We’ve got off to a good start. We have four points on the board and we’re into the next round of the Cup.
“We’re hoping to maintain that and keep it going.”
Smith said the Owls, whose start has been as poor as United’s has been vigorous, would still pose tough opposition.
Added the frontman: “It’s another big test for us. If you look at the Championship there is not really any easy games, but hopefully we’ll put three points on the board.”
