DRINGHOUSES moved above beaten opponents Hovingham into third place in division three of the Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League.

Chris Storey top-scored with an unbeaten 59 as Dringhouses totalled 184-8 and Lewis Chipchase claimed 4-22 as Hovingham were bowled out 34 runs short on 150.

Driffield maintained their promotion drive with an eight-wicket win against Acomb.

Acomb’s Andy Ingle hit 35 and Matt Williams 29, but Jamie Grieveson took 4-55 to help dismiss them for 148.

John Robinson then hit 95 in Driffield’s winning reply.

Osbaldwick gave their survival hopes a major boost when they recorded a home win over Ripon, who were dismissed for 138.

Alex Rippon was destroyer in chief with 5-43 as Rob Taylor (47) made runs for the Citizens.

In Osbaldwick’s reply, Adam Burton hit 61 and Matt Dunne was undefeated with 48 when an eight-wicket win was logged.

At Pocklington, Nigel Ling made 35 and Paul Barnes 38 for Carlton Towers but good bowling by A Warner (3-18) and Geoff Woodward (3-37) pegged them to 144-8.

After the break, C Lambert fell for 31 as one of four wickets to fall before Neil Readman (48no) and Matt Atkinson (34no) sealed a six-wicket triumph.

Leaders Duncombe Park posted one of the highest totals of the day when they made 268-6 against Sheriff Hutton, but they were unable to force an outright win when their guests replied with 183-8.

Peter Humpleby was top-scorer with 75 and received valuable assistance from Brian Leckenby (38), Phil Marwood (29) and Peter Kent (45no) as Nick Schofield took 3-62. Schofield then made 31 as James Leckenby claimed 3-31. Sheriff were able to gain a draw at 183-8 thanks to an unbeaten 37 from David Hull.

Scarborough had a valuable win over Sessay in a bottom two encounter that leaves the seasiders only 20 points behind tenth-placed Carlton Towers.
