THE bouts and the titles keep coming at York’s Chokdee Academy.

Danny Harrison-Little, one of the Nether Poppleton-based gym’s top performers, lifted the Chang Cup, a national Muay Thai-boxing series, which draws not only big crowds but a national television coverage.

A superb demonstration of aggression and accuracy from Harrison-Little yielded a stoppage of opponent Alex Turland early in the second round and now puts him in line for a crack at a British Muay Thai crown at the HGH promotions show in Leeds next month.

Club-mates Mikey Chadwick and Leon Haskins were also hailed as knockout winners when both produced stoppages of their opponents on a recent show as the Chokdee name gained even more credence on England’s professional circuit.

Gym founder, and former double world Thai-boxing champion Richard Cadden, was delighted by the displays of the trio.

And he was able to join in the celebrations. Cadden’s silver medal in the Absolut Brazilian jiu-jitsu show in Birmingham was followed by a gold success in Manchester and more recently a silver in Rotherham.

The last success was matched by his grading to a blue belt, one of the few to acquire such a status in the country.

“It’s been a hectic few weeks for us all at Chokdee and it promises to be like that over the next month,” enthused Cadden.
