ALL-ROUNDER Dominic Rhodes figured with bat and ball in Stamford Bridge’s seven-wicket win over Sewerby in the Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League premier division.

Rhodes took 3-39 in a supporting role to Dave Chaplin, who took 5-13 in a decisive 12 overs, half of which were maidens.

Only Russ Robinson, with 38, scored significantly for the visitors as they fell to 112 all out.

Rhodes then hit 59 and Kev Murphy made an unbeaten 33 as Stamford eased to their fourth win.

Sheriff Hutton Bridge stayed in second place with a comfortable victory over Acomb.

Joe Dale hit 64 and Harry Booth 28 as the visitors reached 90 before Booth became the third wicket to fall.

The Bridge’s youthful attack was backed up by a fine fielding display, with Ben Harrison claiming 3-48 on his first senior outing of the season as Acomb were held to 156-9.

Paul Oldfield and Mark Fisher then progressed in a trouble free manner to 99 at the drinks break, after which Fisher was caught at mid-off for an attractive 62.

Oldfield was caught behind for 51 when only two runs were required for victory. Dave Bradshaw, transferred from Stamford Bridge, hit the winning runs.

Woodhouse Grange’s lead at the top of the division was reduced when they were held to a draw by Beverley – but they still have 56 points in hand over Sheriff Hutton Bridge.

Woodhouse scored 262-4 thanks to an unbeaten century by Chris Bilton (107no), while brother Andrew Bilton made 41 and Nick Hadfield added 48.

Mudd then raced to an unbeaten 50 off nine overs as he and Olly Grantham (58) rescued a draw for Beverley at 198-8. Steve Burdett claimed 3-26 in ten overs.

A tense game at Selby between the bottom two sides saw Clifton Alliance gain a three-wicket win to move to within five points of their hosts.

Batting first, Selby were reduced to 64-7 as Rich Carroll exercised control with 5-47. They were rescued by a fine eighth-wicket partnership of 74 between Matty Clark (77) and Gary Moore (34) which took them to 183.

Clifton were 87-7 as Josh Cruise (3-41) and Lee Wild (3-39) put Selby in control, but John Hunter (50no) and Alex Renton (53no) joined forces in a match-winning eighth-wicket stand of 98. John Gilham hit 39.

At Studley Royal, Easingwold had the better of a draw in which just one run separated the two sides.

Kyle Waite (53) and Jonathon Marwood (57) propelled Easingwold to 198-8, as Dan Craven took 5-70.

G Lamb’s unbeaten 61 and Rob Mackle’s 44 could only take Studley to 197-5.

York’s Simon Lambert hit 134 in 47 overs when his side batted first against visiting Dunnington – but he was still on the losing side.

Rich Bowry (39) and Rob Flack (29) helped York to 239-7. Dunnington skipper Adam Iyer claimed 3-68 and Jack Bolam took 3-48.

Dunnington were then set on the victory trail by Kev Bradley, who made 79, and Collis King, who hit 73, as they put on 148 for the first wicket. Jake Murphy took 4-60 and Gary Richmond 3-36 but Dunnington won by one wicket.
