YORK City today confirmed the signing of central midfielder Lewis Montrose.

The 24-year-old was on the books of League Two champions Gillingham last season, while he also had a loan spell at Oxford United.

Montrose started his career at Wigan Athletic and was loaned out to Rochdale Cheltenham and Chesterfield before he signed for Wycombe in 2009.

Manager Nigel Worthington secured the 6ft 3in player's signature despite interest from League Two rivals Southend United.
