A SLICE of npower will be at the forefront of Forest Park Golf Club this summer.

The Stockton-on-Forest-based club is to host the York City golf day on Wednesday, July 17 when players and officials from the Minstermen, who secured their npower League Two future just five weeks ago, will be taking part.

Forest Park professional Mark Winterburn confirmed it was the first time the course had welcomed the City ranks’ golf day, which is the day after City’s first pre-season friendly against Huddersfield at Bootham Crescent.

Winterburn said: “We staged a golf day last year for David McGurk’s testimonial, so it’s progressed from there.

“This is to raise money for club funds and it offers a chance of playing alongside one of the City players.

“If it’s a success we can hopefully stage it every year.”

The event has drawn sponsorship from Cooper & Westgate building and electrical contractors of Huntington.

Based on teams of four, it costs £40 per person (£160 per team) and there will be various prizes, as well as coffee and sandwich on arrival and evening meal.
