COPMANTHORPE clinched runners-up spot in the York Minster Engineering Football League premier division with a 6-0 victory at home to Selby RSSC.

Danny Leach hit a hat-trick and the scoring was completed by Jake Moyes, Matt Pallister and Robin Bedford.

Bedford’s goal took his league tally for the season to 28, making him the joint runner-up in the top-flight’s leading scorers, level with Wigginton’s Lee McQuade and one behind York RI’s Lee Powell.

Matty Howden, the Selby RSSC player-manager, announced he will be taking over at division two outfit Thorpe United.

In the final division one fixture of the season, Hemingbrough beat Total Sports United 6-2.

Steve Neale and Dan Walton netted for Total Sports, but they were eclipsed by Hemingbrough’s goals from Richie Collins, Tom Collins, Adie Wood and a Luke Zacharenko treble.

Strensall have had a busy end of season schedule to complete their reserve ‘C’ fixtures.

In the Senior League Cup, Rowntrees beat Hamilton Panthers 3-0 thanks to Joe Cox and Dan Marshall (2).

Division four side York Acorn thrashed division two Stamford Bridge 8-1 in the Junior League Cup.

Connor Larner (2), Steve Abbott, Lee Jacobs, Andy Dutton and Leigh Dutton (3) were the marksmen. John Cavangh hit the solitary reply.

Acorn will host F1 Racing in the semi-finals after the division three champions won 5-1 at Rufforth.

George Trifan and Richard Proctor both scored twice for F1 to add to a Jake Murphy goal, while Graham Rae scored for Rufforth.

Two goals in the final four minutes at Fulford turned a 2-1 deficit for Tadcaster Magnets into a 3-2 win.

George Philipson’s opening goal for Magnets was cancelled out by Sam Harrison and the hosts took the lead with ten minutes to go through Darren Todd.

Danny Clarkson levelled four minutes from time and, in the final minute, John Crawley hit the winner to book home advantage in the semi-final against Cliffe or Heslington.

Dunnington kept their hopes of a league and cup double alive as they snatched a 4-3 win at York RI with a last-minute penalty in the Reserve League Cup.
