Cryptosporidiosis at rare breeds farm park

Six people have been infected with a sickness bug at a rare breeds farm park in Gloucestershire.

Five visitors and one employee at Cotswold Farm Park were diagnosed with cryptosporidiosis, which can lead to sickness and diarrhoea.

Public Health England and the Health and Safety Executive are investigating.

Dr David Hunt from Public Health England told the BBC that most of the affected people appear to have been visitors to the park in the Easter holidays.

He said: "The park has cooperated fully with the investigation and has put in place a number of extra measures ahead of the upcoming bank holiday to reduce the risk to future visitors."

As part of the investigation, the Health and Safety Executive and Environmental Health have visited the park and given advice on precautionary measures, including extra cleaning and additional hand washing facilities.
