BIRCH tree woods glinting with gold leaf highlights fill the paintings of Alex Jawdokimov.
The subject matter, rendered in acrylic on large canvas, harks back to the artist's Russian roots. Born in Smolensk in 1937, Alex came to England when he was ten, settling in Taunton with his mother. He later moved to London and pursued a three pronged career in Cossack dancing, art and acting, the latter of which included being 'strangled' by Sean Connery.
He met Christine, his Swiss born wife at a Cossack dance rehearsal and the couple now combine living in Gloucestershire and London.
Alex’s paintings have been shown in Sydney, San Francisco, Lausanne and London and are in private collections throughout the world. Exhibition continues until April 27.
