Church Fenton White Horse win 5-2 against York St John

Church Fenton White Horse maintained their unbeaten home record for the season in reserve ‘B’ of the York Minster Engineering Football League with a 5-2 win over York St John.

They now need just one more win from their remaining three games to be crowned champions.

The students started well and led with goals from Tom Parry and James Long, but the hosts countered through Danny Martin (2), Danny Graham (2) and Kyle Hesling. Having already secured the reserve ‘C’ crown, Malton & Norton were focused on remaining unbeaten. But they paid the penalty for missing a hatful of first-half chances as they lost 2-1 at struggling Wilberfoss.

Jono Parkin gave Foss the lead at the break but Callum Holmes came off the bench to level before Wilberfoss secured a notable victory with a cracker from Chris Allen.

St Clement’s late push for promotion continues to gather momentum in reserve ‘D’ as they chalked up their fifth straight win with a 4-2 home victory over Huby.

Simon Hogbin cancelled out a Ricky Mizzi opener for the Saints but further goals from Adam Harrison, Joe Hamilton and Chris Grimes ensured St Clement’s the points. Jimmy Turton hit a late second.

In the Junior Cup, division four side Huntington FC put in a spirited performance before going down 3-2 at division two side Stamford Bridge. The hosts though were never behind and scored through Nick Rank (2) and Greg Ashcroft.

There were no major surprises in the Reserve Cup though reserve ‘A’ side York RI were pushed by reserve ‘C’ side Thorpe Utd. However, RI edged through with a 2-1 win thanks to goals from Danny Cates and Collen Cummings.
