FREE-SCORING City of York V edged a nine-goal thriller over Mirfield in Yorkshire division five north to swell their tally to 90 goals from 21 games this season.

After conceding an early strike, York levelled with Mark Moisley’s first of a hat-trick before the break to lead 3-2 at the interval. It was Moisley’s fourth triple slam this term in which he has raked in 21 goals.

More erratic York defending allowed Mirfield to twice equalise on the break either side of a goal from Nick Carter. But York deservedly claimed maximum points with a Tony Brimble strike in the last five minutes.

While having little chance of catching runaway leaders Bradford, the V ranks boast one of the highest goal tallies in the entire Yorkshire League, evidenced by a goal difference of plus 50.
