Hockey: Acomb close gap against Bingley Bees

Acomb Hockey Club men’s 2nds closed the gap against third-placed Bingley Bees who they beat 2-0 in Yorkshire League division six north.

The visitors started strongly and passed the ball well but the Tangerines rode their luck.

Acomb were restricted to rare forays, but showed the visitors how to shoot when Jonny Brown struck twice in quick succession with well angled drives.

Paul Kellet commanded the Tangerine defence with some well-timed low tackles ably supported by John Armitage, while ’keeper Craig Brown excelled.
