Super start to land-yacht term

YORK Land Yacht Club boasted a brace of success in the British Land Yacht championships’ first round of the year at the Brean club, near Weston-super-Mare.
Amid bitterly cold winds, York’s David Green took the closely-fought honours in the Class 5 category in his Yorker land yacht.
In the Mini Class, there was a rare dead heat with Chris Wright (York) and Ian Dibdon sharing the spoils. Wright was particularly pleased as it was the debut event for his new mini Yorker yacht.
Other York members, Martin Leach and Martyn Macdonald, were third and fourth respectively.
The championships’ next event is at Bassingbourn Airfield, near Cambridge later this month.
