A DEFLECTED goal denied York City’s youth team victory over Grimsby Town in the Football League Youth Alliance North East Conference.
The second-half strike was diverted past Josh Archer as the visitors snatched a 2-2 draw in the under-18s competition.
The Mariners took the lead after five minutes against the run of play, but Harry Coates got on the end of a corner for City’s equaliser.
Reece Kelly made it 2-1 before half-time when a deflected shot fell to him in the box, but the home side were pegged back by Grimsby’s fortuitous equaliser.
