Kells hell for Heworth

HEWORTH ARLC suffered a 28-6 home defeat by Kells in National Conference League division three.

New coach Tim Rumford started his reign in spectacular style the previous weekend with an opening 58-6 victory at Featherstone Lions, but was brought back down to earth.

The Villagers’ only score at Elmpark Way came in the 74th minute, when they were already trailing 28-0.

Winger Connor Holliday touched down to give the visitors a 19th-minute lead and man of the match Scott Lofthouse crossed on 31 minutes for a try converted by scrum-half Ryan Robb.

Lewis Smith’s 35th-minute try made it 14-0 at half-time.

Robb converted a 45th minute try by Ben Milburn and Holliday crossed for his second on 55 minutes.

Winger Chris Highton rounded off the Kells scoring with a 67th-minute touch down.

Heworth man of the match Adam Jones got the home side on the scoresheet with a try six minutes from time.

Full-back Leigh Rientoul added the extras.

There was no game for York Acorn in the premier division.
