A SCORE of six may not always be welcome for golfers, but it is for the Lord Mayor of York’s Charity Golf Day.
The Lord Mayor, Coun Keith Hyman, along with the Sheriff of York, Coun Paul Firth, visited Pike Hills GC to launch the charity event which will be held at the club for the sixth year on Friday, April 26.
Said Pike Hills GC chairman Jack Smith: “The club are delighted to be hosting this annual event for the sixth time and we are looking forward to greeting over 200 participants on the day.”
The Lord Mayor added the event was an ideal opportunity for local companies, or individuals, to support his two charities – Special Olympics City of York and SSAFA Forces Help. Anyone interested in participating (£80 for a fourball) or sponsoring a tee (£50) can phone Anne Platt, civic service co-ordinator, on 01904 551011 or email anne.platt@york.gov.uk
Meanwhile, the Tesco Extra store at Askham Bar has committed its support to the tournament with the donation of prizes for the first three successful teams on the day.
