York City Knights' Tom Carr fined for abusing official on Twitter
5:01pm Thursday 7th March 2013 in Sport
YORK City Knights full-back Tom Carr has been fined for abusing a referee on Twitter in the wake of the club’s Kingstone Press Championship defeat at Batley.
Carr was one of three Championship players found guilty of breaching Rugby Football League operational rules with comments made on social media networks.
Ewan Dowes and Jamie Thackray, of Sunday’s Huntington Stadium visitors Workington Town, and Carr have all been fined.
Dowes was fined £200 (£100 suspended) and Carr was fined £100 (£50 suspended) for inappropriate tweets.
Thackray had a suspended £100 fine imposed for re-tweeting Dowes’ tweet.
Carr’s offending tweet after the Knights' 42-4 defeat at Batley on February 17 read: “Home bound to spend some time qith (sic) the family great effort from the boys today but cant (sic) beat 14 men #joke.”
