Gray double spurs Selby Town to victory over Appleby Frodingham

SELBY Town picked up their third win in five games as they beat Appleby Frodingham 3-1 in Northern Counties East League division one.

Striker Danny Gray struck twice in the first half and Luke Hall added the third after the break before the hosts pulled a goal back.

The Robins remain bottom of the table but they are now only five points behind second from bottom Askern Villa and 20th-placed Yorkshire Amateur.

Knaresborough Town are second after goals from Craig Heard, Liam Gray and Seb Carole earned them a 3-0 home win over Bottesford.

Pickering Town hit back from a goal down to beat visiting Thackley in the premier division at Mill Lane, Ged Dalton and John Heads netting in the last 17 minutes for a 2-1 win.

Fifth-placed Tadcaster Albion were 1-0 home victors over Maltby Main, Nick Thompson grabbing the winner three minutes from time.

Leaders Scarborough Athletic won 3-0 at Heanor Town to remain two points clear of Brighouse Town. Ryan Blott, James Bennett and Matty Plummer were the marksmen.

On-loan York City midfielder Tom Platt was again on the scoresheet for Harrogate Town in a 2-0 home win over Histon which moved the Wetherby Roaders into fifth place.

Platt scored in the fourth minute and Dominic Knowles added a second on 33 minutes.

Liam Hardy netted an 87th minute consolation for Harrogate Railway as they lost 3-1 at home to Prescot Cables in Evo-Stik League division one north.
