Total focus on York City

Gary Mills Gary Mills

YORK City manager Gary Mills is not worrying about other teams’ results as the Bootham Crescent club bid to secure their League Two safety.

The Minstermen are currently eighth bottom in the table but just four points above the relegation zone.

Six of the seven teams below City in the standings also have a game in hand and at least two sides in those bottom seven places are guaranteed to get a result this afternoon.

Accrington Stanley, in 22nd, are entertaining a Torquay team two positions above them, while basement side Plymouth play host to 21st-placed Barnet.

But, ahead of his side’s home match with Bradford City, Mills said: “We can’t do anything about what other teams do.

“It’s only natural that people will be looking at other teams’ results but I don’t think anything good comes of that and it can cause problems.

“We can only concentrate on ourselves and do our own jobs to pick up enough points to keep us in this division.

“If that’s not enough then God forbid but, if it is, then fantastic.”

Today’s key fixtures are: Accrington v Torquay, Aldershot v Gillingham, Bristol Rovers v Burton, Cheltenham v AFC Wimbledon, Plymouth v Barnet.

2-0 down to bradford and others winning with a game in hand, Mills out, now, before its too late. Pointless getting back into the league if all that happens is return in next season. Utter rubbish. 17th, put your champers back in your Tesco store cos you ain't gonna need it. Mills out, should have been weeks ago.

Another long journey home after another defeat. Hurts to say it but I think Gary could be gone by Monday, we can't carry on at home like this without going down and I don't see how its going to change.

You are correct.

Come in Mr Mills your time is up. Unfortunately he is not a football league manager, thank you for last season but its goodbye and farewell.

PS take your so called coaching staff with you.

Having travelled down from Scotland to watch City gain promotion back into the Football League, it is so disappointing to have seen the poor run of results in recent months after making good start.
I also fear the club could disappear if we are relegated again to Conference. Remedial action is surely required now - home results in particular are poor :-(
The owners/manager need to wake up.

Oh dear Gary taking it on the chin again not a knock out blow but I cannot understand why you brought Ranks in not to give him sufficient pitch time.
We played well enough but just do not seem a danger to teams Jason is just not hitting the target Bradford were nothing special but good enough especially after the player of the month award curse. Could not see what Mcdaid added up front when he came on another tiny forward nothing special to give today. Change needed defensively Smith for a rest please as we cannot keep a clean sheet, another poor result in front of a good home crowd patience wearing thin Gary C'mon City!!!

Two from Wimbledon, Barnet and Accrington to go down. City to stay up by skin of their teeth. But only if Mills admits he has to try something new. I don't care what it is. Is Coulson ready yet? He would make a difference. Bring in the youth team if you have to. I don't believe in using loan players when you are in crisis. They don't have the commitment to the club.

Direct appeal to Sophie!!!, you have always been a fan first before your family got involved, and you still comment on this site, please have a word with your big brother, the manager is way out of his depth here, we are going backwards, and today proves he will never change his stubborn, misguided beliefs, the board need to bring in an impact man to have late effect on the players, to restore a winning mentality before its to late.
