York Acorn ARLC fall short in a pre-season friendly
10:09am Monday 18th February 2013 in Sport
YORK Acorn ARLC were beaten 20-16 in a pre-season friendly at Shaw Cross Sharks.
The Blue and Golds, counting down to their return to the National Conference League premier division, used 21 players in the match.
While Acorn struggled to get into a pattern of play, the home side played with plenty of enthusiasm to edge the win.
Acorn’s try scorers were Matthew Woods, Joel Johnson and Ash Robson, while Antony Chilton kicked two goals.
Young guns Harry Bromwich Richard Ashton and Robson all did their future prospects no harm with good performances, while the club’s more established players benefited from the runout after a three-month lay-off.
Acorn kick off the league campaign at East Hull on March 2.
