York captain James Ford crosses the try line against Swinton
JAMES FORD’S touchdown for York City Knights in Sunday’s Kingstone Press Championship win over Swinton has been named as broadcasters Premier Sports’ Try of the Week.
The 40-metre effort was the Knights’ second of the game in a 34-12 victory, although the centre later went off after pulling a quad muscle.
Coach Gary Thornton said: “Tom Carr made a great break, bursting through Ian Watson’s tackle, and James Ford produced some superb support to finish from distance. It was a well-worked try.
“James is our club captain and gives us some real strike on the left edge, but he’s also got pace, experience and reads the game very well. He scored a very similar try from a break by Jack Lee at Whitehaven in the opening weekend.”
Winger Tom Lineham, who bagged a second successive brace of tries, was named in the Premier Sports Team of the Week.
Former Knights centre Lee Waterman, now at Doncaster, was also in that line-up, at full-back.
