FIVE Lions’ 7-4 win at Magnet was a stormer of a game in division one of the York John Smith’s Ladies Darts League.

Sandra Bruce gamed in 22 darts, including a 140, and Magnet colleagues Danni Laycock and Tracey Watkinson ensured they were all-square entering the pairs, as Muriel Britton (2 x 100), Lynn Thompson and Jill Reed replied.

Wins for Reed and Britton then colleagues Ann Bass and Dawn Exton secured victory.

Carole Layne, with scores of 133 and 121, led Tramways to victory over Slipper, but they were denied a clean sweep by Slipper pairing Anita Adams and Doreen Johnstone.

Flag’s game at Walnut was a family affair, with their team including Mavis Barker and her two daughters, Sarah Jackson and Jayne Dobson, plus Jackson’s daughter, Emma.

However, a match-winning pairs from Walnut’s mother and daughter, Carol Perrett and Clair Cooper, secured victory by the meanest margin.

Top-scoring from Burnholme could not stave off defeat as Cueball ‘A’s final pairing of Barbara Russell and Joan Hunter snatched victory.

In division two, second-placed Edinburgh slipped up at Acomb ‘A’, whose final pairing of Kate Rankeillor and Laura Gatenby sealed the win.

Leaders Bootham Club, who were a player short, had Jane Barnes gaming in 25 darts with two ton-plus scores, before final pair Julia Hagyard and Janet Foster snatched match points at Severus ‘B’.

Burton Club’s Carol McKellar and Sandra Pallister sealed their win against Clifton.

Acomb ‘B’ led a 4-2 entering the pairs at Turpin, before Viv Netherwood and Deb Pollard sealed victory.

Shepherd ‘B’ had Margaret Forth and Kerry Humble point scoring as they went down 9-2 to division three leaders Jubilee, whose Heather Bulmer and Kelly Bailey top scored.
