ENGLAND beat Brazil for only the fourth time in 24 meetings last night with a 2-1 win at Wembley.
Frank Lampard’s lovely finish on the hour gave the Three Lions their first win in nine attempts against the five-time world champions, and their first since 1990.
Joe Hart was the initial hero, making a superb double save from a Ronaldinho penalty following a tough handball decision against Jack Wiltshere.
Wiltshere was then instrumental in England’s opener as his pass released Theo Walcott, who drew a save from Julio Cesar, with Wayne Rooney sweeping home the rebound.
Nemar missed a sitter at the back post, but Brazil were level soon after half-time when Gary Cahill gave away possession and substitute Fred had space to fire home.
Fred soon curled another effort against the bar after more sloppiness at the back.
However, Cahill came close to making amends from a corner before Walcott caused problems and sub Lampard struck a sweet side-foot volley in off a post from the edge of the box.
