Boxing: Steve Melton lifts Yorkshire area lightweight title

SERVICE engineer Steve Melton proved a bright spark in a six-pack of triumph.
In his sixth outing as a semipro boxer with the English Boxing Federation, the 31-year-old lifted the Yorkshire area lightweight title when he ko’d a home-based opponent at Leeds’ Bramley Social Club.
Easingwold-based Melton paid tribute to York’s Legions gym in Fifth Avenue. He said: “I’ve just joined and they’ve not only made me feel welcome, but helped me to win.”
