No half measures as York Ladies ARL storm into semis
10:54am Friday 1st February 2013 in Sport
YORK Ladies breezed into the semi-finals of the Women’s Amateur Rugby League Association’s Challenge Cup Plate with a 62-0 victory over Ovenden Ladies – the game literally being all over at half-time.
York started brightly with full-back Emilie Hatfield racing in from 50 metres after only 51 seconds.
Hooker Natalie Hilton broke through from half-way to score, and prop Lauren Powell powered in from 25 metres.
York continued to add to their advantage as half-back Katie Langan and stand-off Natalie Hatfield both bagged doubles before Hilton also grabbed her second.
York hit the half-century as winger Ashleigh Hyde raced 60 metres home before Hyde and Hatfield each notched a second try, the latter from 80 metres. Carly Hilton booted nine conversions.
Ovenden were unable to field a team for the second half and the result stood.
Hatfield was York’s player of the match.
