Bowls: Selby challenge for York's Hebden Trophy hopes

VICTORY over Selby on Saturday will help York Indoor Bowls Club to secure fourth place in the Hebden Trophy and with it a Challenge Cup spot.

York set up their top four chance with an 85-71 victory over Leeds, picking up 12 points.

At home, Tony Bryan’s team were 6-1 down after four ends but only lost five more as they won 31-12.

Geoff Walker’s side were 9-8 ahead after 11 ends before pulling away to lead 24-8, and their game finished 25-14.

Away, Eric Hodgson’s side came from 16-10 down to level at 16-16 with three to play, but lost them all to go down 22-16.

Jim Robertson’s team recovered from 14-1 down to 18-13 behind with three to play, but they lost 23-13.

On Saturday, New Earswick look to guarantee their top-four position by beating second-placed North Cave.
