Bowls: York's Graham Brooke books place in National finals

YORK’S Graham Brooke came from 8-0 down to topple reigning area four over-60s singles champion David Spilsbury, of Harrogate.

Brooke won 21-17 after picking up a four on the last end to book his place in the National finals at Melton & District IBC on February 25.

Next Wednesday, New Earswick host the men’s triples area final between Dave Attwood’s York team and Hornsea’s Dave Tooley, at 6.30pm.

York play Lincoln today in a Yetton Trophy quarter-final at Thanet Road, at 12.30pm.

On Sunday at noon, Thanet Road hosts the annual Yorkshire Ladies versus Gents President’s match.
