CITY of York Hockey Club V were the only side in action in an otherwise weather-wrecked programme.
The encounter at York’s Energise centre proved worthwhile for the York side who finished 4-3 winners over York University III to hold on to second place in Yorkshire League division five north.
City had the upper hand in the first half, leading 2-0 by half-time.
The second half was a more even affair as the students countered, but City’s greater experience told.
On target for the winners were Andy Kay (2), Nick Carter and Mark Moisley.
• All the other hockey games involving York teams were off at the weekend.
